Korea and the Philippines has some of the highest impoverished elderly populations in the Far East.

On the African continent, Zimbabwe, Liberia and the Central African Republic rank in the poorest of Africa.

In Korea, one in three seniors live alone and approximately 35% of retirees receive a pension which equals $200 USD. This is about one forth of the minimum to survive on a single income. The Korean senior citizen population grew to 12% with the Philippines currently at 6% with an expected increase to 10.25% by 2025.

In the Philippines, more than 26 million Filipinos remain poor with approximately 12 million, living in extreme poverty and lacking the means to feed themselves, according to official government statistics for the first semester of 2015.

In Africa, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimated that 239 million people (approximately 30% of the total population) located in the sub-Sahara Africa were malnourished. This is the highest percentage of any region in the world. The United Nations Millennium Project reported that over 40% of all Africans were not able to regularly obtain sufficient food to meet their daily food requirement and needs.
The Soergel Foundation's International Care Project provides clothing, dental, food and medical assistance to homeless and children's shelters to locations in Africa, Korea and the Phillipines in order to decrease the burden on this population give them hope for the future.
